TpT Tip – How to Make a Transparent Logo Using PowerPoint

How to Make a Transparent Background TpT Store Logo Using PowerPoint from The Notebooking Nook

If you’re new to TeachersPayTeachers or not so new and still struggling with some of the technical stuff that goes along with making a logo, cover pages, banners, and a great looking product, you’re in the right place! I’m working on a series for TpT sellers who are looking to improve the look of their shop and products using tools you most likely already have available to you. So don’t go spend a ton of money you haven’t made yet (YET being the operative word here!) You can make almost everything you need to accomplish these goals by using my favorite program for everything… PowerPoint!

This tutorial is assuming you’re going to do this on the cheap, and so I’m mostly linking to freebies. But the shops I’m linking to have amazing products for sale as well. Take a look around and see what’s available to you.

So with all that said… let’s start by making a store logo, shall we?

Step 1: Find Your Images and Fonts

If you are in need of images and fonts for your logo, here’s a quick list of some of my favorite TpT  freebies for this purpose. I’m going to assume that you know how to save these images to your computer and that you have a plan for organizing them. If any of you need help or have suggestions, please leave me a comment so others will benefit from them.

Anything free from my favorite clip artists: there are so many clipart sellers on TpT, so take some time to look around!

Fonts

I only use fonts from a couple sellers. I have unlimited licenses with them, which I highly recommend you purchase when you’re able. But in the meantime, you can purchase single font licenses from either of the two I use. The links will take you to the fonts in their shops. You can download and use all their fonts for personal use. But if you want to use them in your products, you’ll need to purchase a license.

Step 2: Open PowerPoint and Create Your Logo

The video tutorial below is going to go through some of the ways you can design your logo. However, here I’m only going to explain how to save it as a transparent file.

So once you’ve designed your logo in PowerPoint, you will left-click, hold down your mouse, and drag to capture the entire image. Once it’s all captured, you will right-click and ‘Save as Picture’. On a Mac (I’m not sure about PC’s) you can save as a picture from your top menu, but doing this will not save it with a transparent background.

Step 3: Load Your Logo to TpT

Now that you’ve saved your logo as a picture, all you need to do is upload it to TpT. The video goes through the steps of how to do that if you’re not sure how.

It’s just that easy! No need to stress!

  1. I am new to TpT and I am working on creating my logo. If I use clipart that I received from TpT, where do I give credit if I am only using it as my logo? I just want to make sure I do it all right and give credit where credit it due.

    1. Hi, Kristin,
You will want to read the clip artist’s Terms of Use as they are all slightly different. If you don’t find it in their TOU, you will need to contact the clip artist that you will be using and ask them. Some don’t allow you to use their clip art in logo’s, some allow you to purchase a special license.
